On Thursday, March 8, Beverly Jordan, Vice President & Regional Account Manager from Envoy Mortgage, together with Johnny Snow, Vice President of Mortgage Lending at Southern Heritage Bank, and Dustin Matthews, Vice President of Mortgage Lending, and the mortgage lending team presented a check to the United Way of Central Louisiana.
Southern Heritage Bank achieved Envoy Mortgage’s Correspondent Lending Division’s bronze level and presented a donation of $7,250 to the United Way of Central Louisiana and $7,250 to Community Healthworx.
The United Way of Central Louisiana’s mission is to link people and resources for a stronger community in Central Louisiana. The United Way serves eight parishes: Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle, Rapides, Vernon and Winn.
Community Healthworx is a non-profit that offers a free medical clinic, dental clinic and pharmacy that provides quality health care for eligible working people and their families; prescription medications; and dental services. The donation will be specifically used for the dental clinic to benefit veterans.
The Correspondent Lending Division at Envoy created a challenge that was simple but also gave the opportunity for correspondent lenders to give back to their communities. If an approved lender of Envoy CLD funded or exceeded the Bronze Level in a calendar year, Envoy Mortgage would donate $7,500 on the lenders behalf to a qualified 501(c)3 charity of the lenders choice.
Southern Heritage Bank’s Mortgage Division, managed by Johnny Snow, gladly accepted and met the challenge in 2017. "The idea behind the ‘Charity Award$ Challenge’ was to recognize how volume and margin compression effect today's independent mortgage banker," said Todd Potter, CMB - SVP Sales at Envoy Correspondent. "With the escalating costs of originating loans, owners are forced to make difficult decisions within their budgets. Reducing or eliminating their contributions to the communities that they live and serve are sometimes the first to go, but they should be the last resort. Being a good business partner involves investing in each other, every day."
Southern Heritage Bank is an independently owned community bank with a concern for meeting the financial needs of the residents of Rapides, Catahoula and LaSalle parishes. With nine locations based in Central Louisiana, our origins are in the forests and delta lands of Central Louisiana where our officers, employees and board members are a part of the communities.
